Picket Fence, Rose Garden, Etc.

Women's History is a bunch of crap. I don't care what famous women did to make my life better. Seriously. So what if I have to work harder than men to be accomplished and recognized? The fact that I can is good enough. Feminists bug me too. What the heck? Activists in general, actually. The radical ones that are so extremist that people are so confused and freaked out they don't know what to say to them? Fail. They just bug people. That's not going to make much of a difference.

Anyway. SO not the point. I'm just completely bored and I wrote a poem to enter in the Images contest! Yay! But last year, I won and they changed my poem and cut off the last lines. :| NOT COOL.

Oh well. I'll enter anyway.

I hate Emily Dickinson, by the way. I'm fine with Whitman. We write similarly from time to time (Meaning when I make an effort) so I can appreciate that. But I think Emily was better left undiscovered. That's just me. Matthew Prior? There's a fun poet. :]

If only there were more to type. I want a new dress and have two yearbook spreads due tomorrow. The end.

----Mary; hello, i've missed you quite terribly.

I'm actually the opposite in regards to Whitman and Dickinson. While I'm not entirely enthusiastic about either poet, I intensely dislike Whitman's "Song of Myself" and I'm merely okay with "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd." I love "Oh Captain! My Captain!" though, but I tend to not be a big fan of Whitman. On the other hand, in regards to Dickinson, there are no poems that I really dislike, and I'm actually fond of a lot of them; yet, even though Dickinson scholars talk of how they are amazing and innovative, I think they stylistically suck sometimes (sometimes with the meter/rhyme scheme), even if their meaning is often interesting.

I like Prior. I've only read "An Epitaph" though...

I love "An Epitaph." You sent it to me. But yeah, "Song of Myself" in my opinion, was a little bit self indulgent. The length is just ridiculous and it's a whole lot of nothing. A lot of his stuff can be. But then there are little gems that I just love. I also hate "I Hear America Singing" or whatever. FAIL.

YES WE DO!

I'm free most days, I just need to be called in advance. We can talk to Jene, David, and Brendan and hang out at the mall next week sometime maybe, if you're free.
